February 4  Nets trade John Williamson and a future 2nd round draft choice (which became Milwaukee’s 1981 2nd round pick, Steve Lingenfelter) to Washington for Roger Phegley.
February 8  Nets trade Calvin Natt to Portland for Maurice Lucas, San Diego’s 1980 1st round draft choice (Mike Gminski) and Golden State’s 1981 1st round draft choice (Albert King).
February 1  Nets trade Rich Kelley to Phoenix in exchange for the Suns 1982 1st round draft choice (Brooke Steppe), their 1983 2nd round draft choice (Pace Mannion) and cash.
May 28:   Dallas selects Winford Boynes in the expansion draft.
August 15:  Nets receive San Antonio’s 1981 1st round draft choice (Ray Tolbert) as compensation for the Spur’s signing of veteran free agent George Johnson.
September  Nets trade Roger Phegley to Cleveland for Clarence "Foots" Walker.
November  Nets trade Eddie Jordan to Los Angeles for the Lakers 1982 1st round draft choice (Eddie Phillips).

June 9:   Nets trade Cliff Robinson to Kansas City for Otis Birdsong and Milwaukee’s 1981 2nd round draft choice (Steve Lingenfelter).
June 9:   Nets send Milwaukee’s 1981 2nd round draft choice to Washington to complete the Roger Phegley trade of Feb. 4, 1980.
June 10:   Nets trade Mike Newlin to New York for Mike Woodson.
June 11:   Nets trade Edgar Jones to Detroit for cash.
August 11:  Nets trade Rory Sparrow and their 1985 4th round draft choice (John Battle) to Atlanta for the Hawks 1982 4th round draft choice (James Griffin).
October 2  Nets send Maurice Lucas to New York in exchange for the Knicks not exercising their right of first refusal on Ray Williams after his signing by the Nets.
November  Nets acquire Len Elmore from Milwaukee for cash.
November  Nets trade Mike Woodson and Phoenix’s 1982 1st round draft choice  (Brooke Steppe) to Kansas City for Sam Lacey.

August 12:  Nets trade Foots Walker, their 1985 1st round draft choice (Bill Wennington) and New York’s 1984 2nd round draft choice (Tom Sluby) to Dallas for Kelvin Ransey.

October 2:  Nets send their 1989 1st round draft choice (Stacey King) and their 2nd round draft choices in 1988 (Shelton Jones) and 1989 (Stanley Brundy) to Chicago in exchange for the Bulls not exercising their right of first refusal on Orlando Woolridge after his signing by the Nets.
October 3  Nets trade Mike O’Koren to Washington for Leon Wood.
